Berlin

1.jpg

Entirely different from Dresden and it's very stark surroundings (except the plaza). Berlin is very much like a large city, and our hotel is just off the 'largest shopping district in Germany'. I can't say if that teased my erector pilli in anyway, but here we are nonetheless.

My second bizarre meal was last night. A delicious sausage drenched in a thick sauce, giving it the appearance of a nice long bowel movement. I ate it, and unlike the wurstsalat, kept it down all night. It did not fill me up though. Pictures may appear of that meal at some later date.

We're going to find the museums today (hopefully), a tobak, and maybe, just maybe, that little skirt Kerry asked for.

Berlin, the Kit Kat Club, and I suppose every odd club to satisfy your desires? Its the first non raining day since weve been here, we are going to explore by foot.

Today was without rain, but it was not without humidity. It was however with the playful Helmut Newton, the Erotik Museum, the market (I really like the markets here), the odd tortilla pizza, Warsteiner/Radler, the sights, sounds, aromas that really make up Europe, and that who guides me through everything, Sweeteyed Doodlebug!

I heart Europe. That is not to say it is without hardships. The weather has been intense, the only difference between here and home is I wouldnt walk 5 miles in the Az heat. Another thing is, Europeans are very casual people, I think they consider it rude to give you a bill, and your liable to sit for 45 minutes waiting for one, this is ok if you have a full glass of wine. Water? forget about it they like the sparkling variety, which to me is like drinking alka seltzer. yuck. On the other hand, Europe is a very romantic place. The architecture is drop dead, and im sure the tourists can easily be spotted because they are all looking up! Again, the pace is nice and casual, European people dont seem in a hurry or as demanding or as overstimulated as Americans, they seem happy and generally treat you kindly.
We went to the Helmut Newton museum today. A somewhat "provocative" photographer. This was geared toward my interests, tomorrow we will go to see the Salvadore Dali museum for Joshee.
I desperately ramsacked the grocery isles for candy for my girls Jessica and Kris because it, and nearly everything else will be closed (Sunday) And we managed to get all our nic-nac shopping done today with the exception of Nick, Luckily my hero of a husband helped me out with that one. Not to worry Nick!
Thats all for today, one more day and we head home!
See you soon, doodle.

Last day in Berlin... Pastry shop for coffee and pastry to start, of course. Salvadore Dali museum, which surprised me, actually, instead of the usual stuff we are fed about him, amazing pieces illustrated of Don Quixote, and the Divine comedy, pieces that showed restraint and complexity. Lots of butterfly imagery which reminded me of me friend Stephanie. Followed by a tourist trap tour, hot box bus tour(no air conditioner) of the city which was basically a bore, dropping us off at Check Point Charlie which was no doubt a very important location at one time, but which is very vague and useless at this point Followed by yet another three hour dinner and drinks, and at last a quick desert before we let go of Berlin. Now, back to practical matters, packing, taxi ride to airport and hoping return trip goes as smoothly as possible. See you soon friends! We will arrive at Tucson around 9:30 pm Monday evening. Cheerio.

The Dali museum was perfect. How soft and swift he could be, taking little movement to express so much. A rude waitress was had when Doodlebug was shoveling her last handful of schnitzel down her gullet, but indeed it was much cooler than the Delphi-like bus that led us to such "sites" as Checkpoint Charlie. This could have been Old Tucson, or East Tucson for what it's worth. The denizens of Berlin must click their teeth something fierce.

And my lips wrapped once more around morsels of Walnut ice cream. Oooh so buttery, velvety and just perfect!

When I get home, I will try my hand at this Cola Beer...7upBeer mixing.

Hello there! What a neat and cool looking hotel room! It's a lot darker of a room than what you would find here in the states. It looks more romantic and inviting. I can't wait to see your pictures of your whole experience. Cats are great, they miss you. I will make a trip to your home Monday morning. Have a safe trip home! I am off work Thurs and Fri so let me know when you would like your key back. :)

Home, and a somewhat full nights sleep. After being up for over a day, sleep is a bit weird. One would think I'd collapse and not rise for at least another day, but I'm also still on a different time zone. Going in to work this morning (only for the construction meeting!), and then back home to harass the wifey!

So ...your gone for 11 days, come back, then take the day off. GEEEZ! For that (and Teg's 50th,) I am taking Wednesday and Thursday off. I'll be back Friday to start Robinhood training.
Sounds like a wonderful time was had.

Why Miss Devine, how nice of you to visit. The website is www.pacificacandles.com. I like the woods and resins, but who know's you may prefer other scents.
Hope you are surviving the cut-throat world of S.Q.
