Basking Jeri

It's been quite a long time since I've amused myself with some photos....with that said, here's a poorly shot photo of Jeri, and my attempt to rectify it:

Photo Construction

Yeah, I've been slacking on any Photoshop work as of late. Partially due to Frida eating part of the computer, partially Hewlitt Packard, a tiny bit of laziness on my part...(Jeri typed that). I did steal a boring photo of some flowers and puttered with it for a bit.

Recent contest

So my recent entries aren't faring well. At least, I did receive some positive feedback from other participants, things to keep in mind for future entries. I have quite a few things to do today, updates for my gaming interest page, an eye to keep on the starnet forums, and spousal harrassment. Tomorrow will bring the finishing of the floors, beer drinking, gaming and continued spousal harrassment. Once that's complete, I can focus on my drawing.

Daylight Savings (*updated X2)

There's a new contest theme out there, this one requiring the transformation from day to night in your photo...and it has to include people as well. It's been a while since there was a theme that really caught my interest...the celebrity/zombie one did, but I couldn't find a way to drop my U2 zombies into appropriate surroundings. Since there's a "fee" of credits to enter this contest (no big deal since the credits are free, and I earned when Julia came in 2nd), I thought I would post my potential entries here first, and let the masses be the judges.

Of course, this means this entry will be updated throughout the next day or so.

And I kept my word:

And yet another....I think this one's my favourite so far, I don't know which one to go with...

Tom Foolery

Sure Flickr is a good source of photos to practice with, but it can be quite a pain in the ass to sort through all the crap people decide they absolutely MUST upload for the world to see. Wait....isnt' that the same thing I'm doing here? Ok then. Back to puttering in the morgue then. Meanwhile, here's a quick touch up:

Several adjustments later, and you end up with:

Torn

I've been wanting to attempt a different sort of photo restoration, one involving a torn picture. Of course, I don't have that many photos laying about the house, but Jeri does. I knew better than to help myself to some of her photos, and instead began harrassing her endlessly for several photos to work with. She said she would give me a few, and that I just needed to be patient. So, with the help of my dad, I spent Saturday working on the subfloor in our bedroom, in preparation for our rosewood flooring. With this now complete, and the arrival of our custom wood still in the delivery stages, I began hounding Jeri for those photos. She gave me a photo of my parents, which I promptly ripped:

I then set about repairing the damage that I had caused.

Clowning

When the display on the laptop went out last week, (amazing how attached one gets to it....oh my...that's an original statement!), I wasn't able to finish my entry for Pixel Addiction (celebrity clown). Not really interested in the new contest, but in a few hours, there'll be a new one. Here's my "would be" entry:

First Entry of the Day

I think I was a bit over confident this morning when I announced to Jeri that "I would be entering this contest", and then began strutting about the living room, in my patented (thanks to Gary Newson Esq.) donkey dance, which as usual, caused me to fall flat on my back, bruising my tailbone, and biting through my lip. So, with that said, here's the first entry for today:

Contest Related Update

The judging closed over at Pixel Addiction, and I, or rather my adulterated photo of Julia has taken second place.

Spawn

One of these days I'm going to get a nasty email from Ty Pessin, or perhaps his wife demanding that I cease any further alterations of their offspring. (Actually I don't fear any repercussions from his wife, I suspect she has successfully repressed any indication of my existancence, and as such any tinkering). So, to preempt that email, I now post my final (maybe) photo of the Connare Pessin.

A trusted and well adored fan of Visceraman1/Joshua Lopez says that facial hair is no laughing matter from the female perspective. So without further ado, here is something else that's not laughing matter.

Contest Related

The Pixel Addition contest of the weekend seemed fairly straight forward, yet presented a decent amount of challenge. I don't have a copy of my submission on my server, so I had to borrow a copy back from them, hence the added pixel addiction reference at the bottom. (Obviously the premise was transgendering)

Hurry Up And Wait

Rather impatiently, I'm waiting to enter another contest at PixelAddiction.com. Since it seems to be taking an excessively long time, I'll go ahead and post my entry here. Then, while I continue to wait, I will start re-editing some of my longer postings to utilize an extended entry format (i.e: Click here to continue), some of my posts like the Rudy series seem fairly annoying to scroll through over and over and over again, so with that in mind, follow the directions to see my entry.

Putterings

Yes, I have entered my first photoshop contest, over at photoshopcontest.com. My entry specifically is the bird shit on Ozzy's tongue. Make sure you cast your vote, ah never mind, I'll do better on future entries.

**UPDATED:

Included below are the images from the contests...

Progression of Pops

I have a sinking feeling that my Pops doesn't browse over to the Visceraman1, Joshua Lopez site too often. Ok, with the exception of my very first site (an old Flash based site...the black one, with the purple bouncing buttons....and even then it was probably after being sent dozens of links to it every time I adjusted the motion tween of the buttons.) Ah such is life, and now he will be oblivious to the fact that I am currently amusing myself with a photo Jeri took of him. The photo used is of me getting my haircut by him, I wonder if he's secretly relieved he's off the hook on that one....

Made Over

I think I know what Sweet Jeri is going to say when she sees this, an emphatic and disgusted "Men!". Ah, such is life. Oddly, it was difficult to find a close up of a face; I would have preferred more of the face to work with, such is life. For the record, I have no clue as to who she is or was.

Growing My Hair Out

trio

For the shot I chose to use, adding hair to my head will be a bit easier, since I'm outside, wearing scruffy clothes (much to the chagrin of the Italian folk), so it doesn't have to be perfect. Remember the steps needed to create a brush stroke from the previous article, we need to create at least 3 brushes for hair. This of course will depend on the hairstyle you're creating, but mine is simple, with just three brushes needed. Why different brushes? For the left side, right side and the back of the hair. This is easier, and much faster than it sounds.

Growing A Beard

trio

I was browsing about the Worth 1000 website the other night, and saw that they had a contest that involved adding hair to various items. This picqued my interest a bit. Sure the contest submitters are considerably more advanced, and pretty fucking creative I might add. Instead of focusing on the advanced nature of their skills, I decided instead that I would attempt to add hair. But how? And to what. Ah ha! Among my physical inadequacies, there lies a problem hairline. Not the worst hairline ever, but one that I deemed necessary to remove. I could add hair to myself, and since I have never posted pictures of me with hair, (not to mention, no one reads this site but a select a loyal few), no one would be the wiser. I also thought, instead of just posting the before and after results, I would attempt to show the work in progress. I may miss a few steps, the results may not be perfect, but what the hell. Let's go.

I thought the original photo was fine as it was. Just curious as to what it would look like after being played with. Unfortunately, I didn't have immediate access to the larger size file, had to make do with this tiny one.

Butterfly

I thought the original photo was lacking something. I don't know that I added anything to it, but enjoyed playing with it. I really don't like the size of the frame around the altered one, I think I should have gone with a simple thin, black. Perhaps with some sort of matting...next time.

Tinkering With Conner

As the photo related category disappears and reinvents itself as Photo Play (yeah, I'm sure you noticed), I add some musings of Ty Pessins chap. For some reason he's pretty easy to alter. Does it have to do with the bright colours of childrens toys? I don't know.
